CONTEMPORARY PALEOGRAPHY
Contemporary Paleography is a research by me, a Graphic Designer without any knowledge in translating ancient languages, in the Zapotec script. Zapotec is a Mesoamerican script used from 500BCE to 1000BCE in Oaxaca, Mexico. Known text are very short, most of the time about 10 glyphs, making it very difficult to translate and understand.
Till this day, there is still little to no understanding of this script, so I decided to give it a try myself, but this time only using the knowledge I have surrounding me. Based on a few carved in rocks found throughout the years, I tried to make translations of the glyphs using Google images. These resulted in new stories and possibly new findings for actual professional Zapotec researchers.
